Vulpes Supply House Board Wax No. 1 is a rich blend of beeswax, food-grade mineral oil, and orange essential oil made for the routine care of cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden utensils, serving pieces, and other unfinished food-contact wood.
The mineral oil penetrates the grain while beeswax remains closer to the surface, helping slow moisture loss and creating a smoother, more protected finish than oil alone. It restores depth and color without creating a hard synthetic coating or glossy plastic-like surface.
Why Use Board Wax?
Repeated washing and daily use gradually strip moisture from wood. That leaves the surface looking pale, dry, and rough—and makes it more vulnerable to checking, cracking, and absorbing moisture.
Board Wax No. 1 helps maintain the surface after oiling by:
- Sealing in conditioning oil
- Helping reduce moisture absorption
- Restoring richness to faded wood grain

How to Apply
- Clean the wood and allow it to dry completely.
- Apply a thin, even layer of wax with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Work the wax into the grain, edges, and exposed end grain.
- Allow it to sit for at least 20–30 minutes. For deeper conditioning, leave it on longer.
- Buff away the excess with a clean cloth until the surface feels smooth and dry.
Reapply whenever the wood begins to look faded, feel rough, or absorb water quickly.
For Best Results
Board Wax works best as the final step in a two-part care routine. Treat dry wood first with Vulpes Board Oil No. 1, allow the oil to absorb fully, and then apply Board Wax No. 1 to help seal in that conditioning.
Wax alone can improve the surface, but it will not penetrate severely dry wood as effectively as oil. Skipping the oil on a neglected board is lazy maintenance and gives you a weaker result.
