The Complete Board Care Kit

Everything needed to condition, protect, and maintain hardworking wood—without buying each piece separately.

The Vulpes Supply House Complete Board Care Kit combines Board Oil No. 1, Board Wax No. 1, a reusable 100% linen application cloth, and a straightforward care guide into one complete wood-maintenance system.

The oil penetrates dry wood and restores depth to the grain. The wax follows as the finishing step, helping seal in that conditioning while leaving the surface smoother and better protected from everyday moisture. The linen cloth provides a durable, low-waste way to spread each product evenly and buff the wood to a clean, natural finish.

Built for cutting boards, butcher blocks, serving pieces, wooden utensils, and other unfinished food-contact wood surfaces.

Because buying quality wood and neglecting it afterward is a waste.

Ownership is maintenance.

What’s Included

Board Oil No. 1

Food-grade mineral oil that penetrates the grain, replenishes dry wood, and restores its natural color.

Board Wax No. 1

A blend of beeswax, food-grade mineral oil, and orange essential oil that conditions the surface, helps seal in moisture, and leaves the wood smooth without creating a hard synthetic coating.

100% Linen Application Cloth

A reusable natural-fiber cloth for applying Board Oil and Board Wax, working the products into the grain, and buffing away excess.

Linen is durable, absorbent, and well suited to wood care. Unlike disposable wipes or paper towels, the cloth can be reused for future maintenance, reducing waste and keeping a dedicated applicator with your care products.

Cutting Board Care Guide

Clear instructions covering conditioning, cleaning, drying, storage, and ongoing maintenance.

Why Use Both Oil and Wax?

Oil and wax do different jobs.

Board Oil No. 1 penetrates into the wood, replenishing moisture lost through washing and normal use. Board Wax No. 1 stays closer to the surface, helping seal in the oil and creating a smoother, more moisture-resistant finish.

Oil without wax provides conditioning but less surface protection. Wax without oil cannot properly restore severely dry wood. Used together, they form a complete maintenance routine.

How to Use the Kit

Step 1: Clean and Dry

Clean the wood with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Never soak it or place it in the dishwasher.

Allow every surface to dry completely before applying oil.

Step 2: Apply Board Oil No. 1

Apply a generous, even coat using the linen cloth. Cover the top, bottom, sides, edges, and exposed end grain.

Allow the oil to absorb for several hours or overnight. Use a clean section of the cloth to wipe away any oil remaining on the surface.

New or severely dry wood may require additional coats.

Step 3: Apply Board Wax No. 1

After the oil has fully absorbed, use the linen cloth to apply a thin, even layer of wax.

Work it into the grain and edges. Allow it to rest for at least 20–30 minutes, then buff with a clean section of the cloth until the wood feels smooth and dry.

Step 4: Maintain Regularly

Reapply when the wood:

  • Looks pale or faded
  • Feels dry or rough
  • Absorbs water quickly
  • Loses the depth and richness of its grain

Frequently used boards may need attention every few weeks. Lightly used pieces may require maintenance less often.

Caring for the Linen Cloth

Keep the cloth dedicated to board-care products.

After applying oil or wax, allow it to dry completely before storing it with the kit. Wash separately with mild detergent when needed, and avoid fabric softener or dryer sheets, which can leave residue behind.

The cloth may darken or develop oil marks over time. That is normal for a reusable wood-care applicator and does not prevent continued use.
